Hannah

Licensed Therapist and Practice Owner

Colorado and Florida

My name is Hannah Dorsher, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Fort Collins, Colorado. I am SO glad that you found my practice! I specialize in helping people create better relationship patterns, understand your attachment style, decrease anxiety, build self-esteem and self-worth, and heal from past hurts and trauma. I enjoy working with college-age adults, young professionals, moms, and men and women. I provide therapy for people in Fort Collins, CO, Northern Colorado, and all across the state of Colorado. I also work virtually with people in Florida.

Background and Experience

Do I know what I’m doing?

I completed my Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology at Colorado State University, and I graduated with my Masters of Counseling from Colorado Christian University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado and a Nationally Certified Counselor in the United States. I also have my CAT (Certified Addiction Technician), and am trained in EMDR. I have worked in a variety of settings including a residential substance abuse program for teens, a 24-7 crisis center with an inpatient facility, a healthcare clinic, chronic pain groups, a suboxone clinic, and in various out-patient settings as well. I have worked with people of all ages on a huge spectrum of issues, and I have experience managing a clinical team and providing supervision to other counselors seeking to earn their license.

Over the last several years, I have specialized in helping people understand their attachment styles, gain insight into how this impacts their relationships, and learn skills to heal attachment wounds in order to more fully enjoy themselves and their relationships. I also specialize in helping people with anxiety, self-esteem issues, and trauma. Upon navigating the crazy waters of motherhood myself, I also love helping new moms who wish to create a secure, bonded attachment to their babies and exploring their identity while getting support throughout the experience of being a mom.

This is all to say, I have a wide-range of mental health experience, and I am confident that my training, education, and experience makes me well-qualified to help with a wide-variety of client needs. I truly believe that it is my duty (and my passion!) to always continue my growth process—I am constantly reading, completing trainings, and learning new skills to provide my clients the absolute best version of myself.

My Approach

  • Person-Focused

I take a fairly eclectic approach when it comes to therapy—meaning I like to tailor my therapeutic approach to you—the client! I tend to naturally gravitate towards person-focused therapy in which I consider YOU the expert on…you! So I aim to walk alongside you, supporting you, helping you, listening to you—helping you learn how to help yourself move forward.

  • EMDR

I also use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing….I know, it’s a mouthful!). EMDR is an amazing therapy that aims to use eye movements or tapping to help your brain in reprocessing trauma so that the memories are not as emotionally charged. (Check out my EMDR page for more information!)

  • Narrative Therapy

Who doesn’t love a good story? Using Narrative therapy, we will identify the stories you hold about yourself, your life, others, the world, etc. and consider whether the stories are helping you or hindering you. From there we work together to “rewrite” your stories to create the kind of narrative that actually leads to vibrant, passionate living.

  • CBT

I love to use skills-based therapy approaches like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). This therapy approach will help you learn practical skills that will help you to be conscious of, and change, your unhelpful thinking patterns.
